Most of the Gaiters I used had one problem- if I am wearing sunglasses and when I pulled-up the gaiter over my nose, the glasses used to fog-up, as the air travels up. The Columbia gaiters have perforated holes just near the nose area. This helps in discarding the air out instead of rising upwards. Also, during steep ascends, when you breathe heavy, these holes helps to breathe fresh air from outside and it dsn't block the air as the other gaiters or scarfs. The neck cover is sufficient enough to cover any exposed neck areas. It will protect the neck even if you are wearing a round collar t-shirt.
